However the storytelling feels a bit lacking next to its predecessors and the only thing stopping you from ripping through the game is needing to train your combat to take on certain enemies. still fun and would recommend buying but if u were losing interest after the second then this one may not be your cup of tea.. I absolutely love these games I've been looking forward to this for months I think it's a really good point and click type game that is actually challenging and not made simple for little kids although I do feel like a little kid searching for frogs and butterflies on every new part of the map lol but it's a lot of fun and I highly recommend this and the two previous games.. I find this to be the best in this fun series so far. I enjoy the hidden objects features for finding eggs, mushrooms, and other helpful objects. I like being able to build my character's skills and unlocking abilities. The story line is simple, yet a great escape from everyday pressures. The map features, achievement tracking, and camping mode were very helpful. This is a terrific game for a casual player who wants to escape into a fantasy world, but knows they could be interrupted by reality at any moment.. Super casual, super good. You'll find a non more relaxing, sit-in-front-of-the-tv-on-a-sunday-afternoon-with-a-mild-hangover-watching-the-Goonies-or-similar-game than this.. This game is a lot more fun to play than the previous game. They both had good stories with easy to learn game controls. This latest version has a much bigger map and there is a lot more to the story. Gameplay requires you to learn many different skills so that you can use them to make food, potions, & weapons as well as gathering all of the materials and items to create those things. The game ran great on my Mac running 10.12.6. Thanks for a great game.. Head's up. There's a handful of post-game quests that are a lot easier if you don't empty out your inventory trying to get all 57 achievements before heading to the castle. I spent ninety minutes post-game while listening to Welcome to Night Vale podcast grinding to gather materials I'd sold in my earlier rush to get the Cash on Hand Achievement.I'm fairly certain this is the weakest game in the series in terms of replay value. The previous games seemed precisely engineered in terms of where you could go and what you could find, the general lack of respawning items giving a sense of there always being a solution, an item being *somewhere* even if you were frustrated to the point of needing to walk away for awhile. The only point this let me down was in Hero of the Kingdom I, when I sold something I needed to progress past the bottle neck in first section and then spent the proceeds on other things and didn't have enough cash to buy it back and so needed to restart the game - the world opened up after that section and I wasn't afraid of the problem reoccurring. In Hero of the Kingdom I and II, my familiarity with the finite world means I'm certain I could repeat the game a lot faster on future playthroughs, especially if I downloaded walkthroughs with the clickable items circled. In a replay of Hero of the Kingdom III, I could see myself managing items better but it would still be a grind. Those achievements with seemingly over the top numbers for Food, Energy and Potions that I laughed at the apparent absurdness of and worked on in my free time early on in the game? Yeah, I reached those and was impressed with myself for a bit - and then I ran out. Repeatedly.I applaud the developers for trying out new things. I enjoyed being able to buy from merchants on the map screen without needing to travel there in person. The camp expanding in usefulness as time went on was neat and probably a good time saver. The humans have progressed technologically as shown by a marvelous piece of dam construction. This is a decent game. This is a charming entry in a series I love. The steps needed for one hundred percent completion were well-broadcast and straightforward to achieve - although I am kind of shocked at how many seemingly absurd ones turned out to be necessary to complete the game at all.Just... in previous entries, I could walk into cleared rooms and go, I did this. I am satisfied with the work I put in. There's new stuff? There's new stuff because I unlocked it. Yay, me. In this one I spent an hour post-game navigating through every screen and collecting objects and killing animals I did not need and had no use for in hopes of triggering specific respawns and not knowing if that was a possible thing. While my time spent having fun versus not having fun in this game was sadly lower than my perceived ratio for I and II, I did have fun playing this game and so I'm recommending based on that and the time and effort the developers went through in varying the formula. I'm a fan of them and looking forward to what they come up with next in the general series... Here's hoping it's IN SPAAAAAACE.. After finishing the game and getting all the trophies and other items, I can honestly say this is the best version of the game I have played. You must have a lot of patience to achieve every objective that is obtainable. Can't recall all the details of how I got all the items, but I will tell you that if you go over each area many times, the solutions are obvious. I would highly recommend this game to those individuals who have a lot of time to continue going over each area. I was able to find new areas and accomplishments after going through each level at least 4 times. I know this seems tedious, but when the trophies and other areas start piling up, it is worth the effort. If anyone has questions about how I got all the trophies, I will assist you the best I can. I will have to go back into the game again to remember where I found each item.. So far it's excellent. There are many improvements and new features from HOK II. I won't spoil any surprises, but absolutely buy this if you enjoy Hero of the Kingdom games.. Collecting strength was too easy. Great story.. I have purchased all three Hero of the Kingdom titles, and enjoyed them all. They are a unique kind of adventure game in that they have an rpg-like plot and quest system, but the mechanics of a hidden item game crossed with elements of gathering/management games in which you must collect and craft supplies to meet your goals (and win battles). There is no interactive combat, no time pressure, and no being defeated unless you just give up. A willingness to compulsively gather is the primary requirement to play.I think if you enjoyed the first two in the series, you will enjoy this latest installment. However, I felt this was the most grindy of the three titles. On the other hand, I found this quality amusing as well. Example: If I was preparing for a battle to clear out a cave of trolls - first cook and eat 400 bowls of fish soup, then craft 5 spears and shields because they tend to break after each use, oh and I'll need 5 healing potions per troll so 30 potions should do, and on the way I should really stop to scoop up any frogs I see because I'll need a couple dozen of those for alchemy later. The thief companion who is following me around without helping me must think I am a psychotic hoarder, but that's what it takes to be a Hero in this game.
